Description
This course will help compliance officers understand and demonstrate knowledge of the consumer protections and debt collector responsibilities covered by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and its implementing regulation, Regulation F.

- Describe the purpose, content, and timing of debt validation notices
- Identify the restrictions and requirements applicable to communications and attempts to communicate in connection with a debt, including unfair practices that are prohibited
- Recognize Regulation F’s rules regarding frequency and type of contact to consumers including opt-out provisions; disclosures; the sale, transfer, or placement of debts; transfers of consent to contact; and collection of time-barred debt
- Examine the record-retention requirements and penalties for noncompliance with the regulation
